The Dreame L20 Ultra is a robot vacuum and mop with MopExtend technology that physically extends the mop pad beyond the robot body to clean along wall edges and into corners. AI-powered obstacle avoidance uses an RGB camera with 3D structured light to identify and navigate around objects. The base station handles hot water mop washing, hot air drying, auto-emptying, and automatic water refill.

How to keep it private
LiDAR navigation, AI obstacle avoidance, carpet detection, mop lift, and the cleaning cycle all run on-device. The RGB camera processes images locally without uploading photos. However, map storage, scheduling, room labels, and remote access require the Dreamehome app and cloud.

The RGB camera can be disabled through the Dreamehome app if you are uncomfortable with a camera-equipped robot in your home. LiDAR navigation works without the camera, though obstacle avoidance will be less precise. Home maps are stored on Chinese cloud servers (Dreame is in the Xiaomi ecosystem). For maximum privacy, use the physical button without Wi-Fi. Consider network isolation if you want app features with limited data exposure.
